Eboria & Marida: Ready for the finals

WEFA | World Nations Cup

Ready for WNC18a

Both teams have finalised their squads, played their warm-up games. Now comes the hard part- three games that will shape their destiny!

Eboria have to play Australia, Italy and Belgium. The squad is as ready as it can be. It will be interesting to see if the injured experienced couple of Murphy and Buckhalter will be missed, being replaced by youthful Jordan Wilcox and Mark Vladic.

Marida have to face one of the favourites- Brazil, with Mexico and Nigeria completing the group. Marida have the firepower to take on two of these teams, but have looked a little weak at the back recently.

We will soon find out if either squad is strong enough to get out of their groups. If they can reach the knockout rounds, then who knows how far they can get?!

Adelphia Arsenal clinch ESL with one round to go

Eborian Super League | 2017-18 Season | Round 33

Adelphia_goalhuddle

Adelphia Arsenal wrapped up the title in the penultimate round, having an unbeatable four point lead at the top. Meanwhile, the race to the bottom, or escape out of it heated up. It will be all to play for next Saturday.

ADELPHIA ARSENAL  2-1  HALLAS HOTSPURS

In the late Saturday night Kickoff, Adelphia looked unusually nervous in front of the prime time cameras. Fernando Marquez provided a 9th minute lead, with a brilliant header, but Hallas always looked like scoring. Hallas indeed got their equaliser on 49 minutes, when Peter Harvey snuck in at the far post to pop the ball in. Adelphia took back the lead, 26 mins before the end, when a neat 1-2 between Wilcox and Thomas enable the former to set up Luis Velasquez for a low tidy finish. Adelphia had done enough this year! All wrapped up with one game to go, taking in the celebrations in front of their home fans. Continue reading

The Rochester Trojans turned the ball over five times in a slightly one-sided second half performance at the Cherry Bowl stadium. QV Ryan Bruce threw four interceptions- all to POTG WB Edgar Jammer, one returned for a pick six.

The ‘Sixers started off at breakneck speed, being 14-0 after two Kurt Sierra touchdown tosses; to Johnson and Brown. The Trojans first three possessions ended with three and outs and an interception. They started off running away from DE Vin Marshall and his pass rushing prowess. They were playing in to the New Jorg Defence’s hand- who dared them to throw the other side to – Jammer.

Following Frank Bowman’s fumble, the Trojans got one back with a Ray Shell catch and run for sixteen yards. The Trojans then gave up the pick six, before rallying with a Shell running TD and Ryan Bruce’s pass to Philips. It was tied at 21 at the half.

After the halftime show featuring Ellie Winters and Monstersauce, the game restarted with defences on top. Vin Marshall and the ‘Sixers front seven locked down the Trojans.
It took a defensive play to open the game back up, and it happened following Ray Shell’s fumble. The ball popped up into the hands of Defensive End Marco McKeown, who returned it 89 yards for the score.

Kurt Sierra then topped the day off with a second scoring pass to Asante Brown. The Trojans pulled one back when Philips broke through for a 60 yard score.

The New Jorg 96ers were crowned the champions of the PFL for the third time. With that defence, how many more can they get?

Ohara, Olaskas to meet in Champions Bowl ’18

UFB | Champions Bowl Series Semi-Finals

The top two seeds, the Scarlets and the Crimson Glory have navigated through the Champions Bowl Series (CBS) to book their places in the Champions Bowl on 6th January 2018.

Ohara beat the Granada Bulldogs 41-35 in a high-scoring affair, a good action-packed shootout at Scarlet Stadium. It came down to who had the ball last.

Olaskas had a slightly easier time of it against the BSU Bosshogs, winning  27-14 and seemingly taking the fourth quarter off.

The number one ranked team No.1 against the no.2 team. This should be one heck of a contest!

The Season isn’t over for Granada and BSU though, as they now have New Years Classic Bowl games to play in, along with other top ranked teams, like Eregonia and O’Connell.
